She wasn’t all bubbly and giggly and baby-y. She looked at me dead on and had no need to please me or charm me. (Um…which she did instantly…check out the cheeks!) Emily was perfectly content just being. She was chillin’, hangin’, waiting, watching.
What goes on their little heads? What are they seeing? What have they seen?
As I stare at these faces on my computer screen long after a session, enhancing the sparkle already present in their bright little eyes, I wonder frequently what these babies think of all of us. Of me, with the large dark box-thing in their face, a virtual stranger, singing songs, getting up in their grill, googling my eyes and cooing, rewarding any expression with a lilting voice.
Are the babies who are bubbly and instantly giggling having a party in their heads? Do they imagine they are the life of that party, or are they laughing at how silly we all are?
Emily is a gentle soul and I’m looking forward to watching her grow, to asking her later in life, what she has going on inside that sweet, beautiful head of hers!
